Play with natural stones on a beautiful wooden table, for the authentic goban experience. Designed and hand-crafted by'go crazy' artists, Pendragan Design, this is an original go board for the serious player, and a statement piece for the thinking person's home.
The board is carved with a 19 x 19 grid of squares, hand-painted in gold. It measures 600 x 600 x 45 mm overall and has been hand-made by a master yachtbuilder (Penny's father), from sapele wood, a sustainable alternative to mahogany. It is glued and screwed to remain absolutely rigid, sitting on four 90 mm-high, turned feet with leather pads, so you can use it on a table top without scratching it, or you can sit and play on the floor. Including the feet, the height is 135 mm. The stones are responsibly-sourced pebbles, varying from 28 - 30mm in diameter, each hand-painted and varnished to enhance its individual beauty.The 192 dark stones and the 190 light stones are stored in beautiful, hand-made drawstring pouches. The pouches are reversible, with chenille on one side and luxurious, suede-like fabric on the other. The dark stones are kept in the beige pouch with copper eyelets and copper drawstring. The light stones live in the silver pouch with pale silver drawstring.
The drawstring cords are hand-whipped with silk and sealed with wax at the ends to prevent fraying. The board weighs 12 kilos, and the combined weight of the stones is 5.36 kilos. Please note that you may have to pay import duty in your country, and this is not included in our price.
